Payroll and Account Manager
I joined SJC at almost inception, when Sam first started the business around her kitchen table. My role has evolved from providing part-time bookkeeping support to leading the payroll department, where I manage a client base of 65 payrolls. I have played a key role in building and developing the payroll function from the ground up, establishing robust processes and controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and full compliance with payroll legislation. I am responsible for ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time, and I act as a trusted point of contact for clients on payroll matters, providing guidance on legislative changes and best practice. Through strong organisation, attention to detail, and leadership, I have helped support the growth of the business while maintaining consistently high service standards.
What I do in my spare time:
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me knee-deep in a DIY project – either at home or helping family and friends. This can involve anything from wrestling flat-pack furniture to assembling a barbecue (while very responsibly following the instruction manual). Around the festive season, you may witness my most unexpected talent: gift-wrapping perfection, complete with razor-sharp edges, ribbons, and beautifully tied bows – no wrinkles allowed. When tools are down, there’s a good chance I’m binging a new TV series, usually something supernatural or mystical. At the heart of it all is my family, who somehow manage to put up with everything.
